20 Bore Pinfire Howdah Pistol

I also have a 20 bore Pinfire Howdah Pistol ex India.
Well worn with single trigger and odd opening action by pulling back the front of the trigger guard. I have not seen this before and there must be a patent somewhere?.

Barrels are smooth bored with 50mm chambers. 8" or 204mm barrel length.
Only marked 102 inside frame and F 102 under barrels.
Brass butt with lanyard ring. Used from a Howdah I was told.

Hello Ron, this is not Indian but central European from around 1861. Would you please post the picture of the serial number?

Thanks for your interest in this pistol. It came from India 40 years ago from my friend Magnus von Bromssen who lived in Sweden & Australia and bought heaps of items in India.
I cannot see any traces of rifling and the muzzle is 16.1 to 16.2mm diameter. 20ga chamber.
Serial number is F 102.

I don’t remember seeing this when you posted it. It’s definitely an interesting design.

Thank you, Ron.
Talking about Indian´s howdahs, what´s the total length in mm? It seems this may be longer than the english specimen?
And looking at the barrel, how did you disassemble it? Looks like there is a pin to hammered out from the side?

The grip to muzzle length is 355mm overall. I did not measure the brass knob and lanyard ring.
Yes it has a pin but the small locking screw is missing. It punched out easily.
