Definitely an interesting piece. They must have made a new hammer to fit instead of the pin fire hammer which would need to be taller and strike the cylinder from the top instead of the rear. I have one which is a combination 5mm pin fire and .22 short rim fire. It has two striking surfaces on the hammer - one from the top and one from the rear.
